The Barbados Independence Surf Festival November PRO is the most popular event on the Barbados Surfing Association’s calendar.

This year the event is being held from November 13th to 16th, 2014 at Soup Bowl, Bathsheba, St. Joseph on the East Coast of the island. Every year surfers from California, Hawaii, as well as from Australia and other Caribbean islands such as Jamaica, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Trinidad and U.S. Virgin Islands compete in this event.

The Independence Surf Festival in Barbados consists of two premium international competitions, the November PRO/Independence PRO and The Caribbean Junior Championships which the Barbados Surfing Association joined with the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP). Last year was the first time the ASP Junior Pro event was hosted in the Caribbean.

Both events promise spectacular surfing and a great day at the beach, with half-pipe demonstrations from local and regional skaters, the famous bikini contest, live music, arts & craft, local food and lots more.

Over the years this event has had some well-known surfers attend like 11 time World Champion Kelly Slater, Tom Curren (who participated last year), Sam Hammer, Cam Anderson, Icah Wilton from Jamaica, and our very own Mark Holder.
Some groms to look for this year from Barbados are Josh Burke, Chelsea Tuach, Chelsea Roett, Che Allan and many more. Josh Burke and Chelsea Tuach will be representing Barbados at the ASP world junior championships, October 25 to November 02, 2014, held in Ericeira, Portugal.
